Apparently, digEcor is a Purpose Built IFE Provider

Among the myriad of things that I learned at the recent WAEA/APEX conference in Long Beach, I learned a new phrase for what we as digEcor do. We are a provider of purpose built portable in-flight entertainment. I’ve used different phrases over the past few years to explain why we are different from many of our competitors. Now, the industry is apparently adopting the phrase “purpose built” to differentiate proprietary devices from consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) units.

Why Etihad Airways Won the Best Single Achievement in IFE AVION Award

I was fortunate enough to be one of the judges for the Best Single Achievement in IFE AVION Award which was awarded at last week’s WAEA/APEX event. We had to evaluate five strong candidates who each deserve praise. However, Etihad Airways emerged as the victor by near unanimous vote. I was disappointed, though, that no explanation was given at the awards ceremony as to why they won.
